Areas of interest:

Central nervous system vascularization, endothelial cell biology, and their roles in health and neurological disorders.

Current research:

The Neurovascular Patterning Lab, led by Dr. Alexandre Dubrac at the Azrieli Research Center of CHU Sainte-Justine in Montreal, investigates the crucial role of endothelial cells in central nervous system vascularization and their impact on neurological disorders. Our research focuses on understanding the mechanisms driving endothelial cell polarity, angiogenic sprouting, and vascular heterogeneity in conditions such as retinopathies, arteriovenous malformations, and perinatal hypoxia. By utilizing advanced transgenic mouse models, cutting-edge single-cell and spatial transcriptomic technologies, and state-of-the-art imaging techniques, we aim to unravel the molecular and cellular pathways underlying neurovascular interactions. Our goal is to uncover how endothelial dysfunction contributes to disease and to identify new therapeutic targets to improve brain and retinal health in both pediatric and adult populations.
