This project delves into the increasing reliance on contractual and fixed-term employment within international organizations, particularly UN entities. This trend reflects a significant transformation where global policymakers are increasingly hired on a contractual basis rather than as traditional employees.
Fri, 18 Oct 2024 14:51:26 +0000 Auriane Journet 4527 at /arts-internships ARIA Spotlight: Olivier Joncas /arts-internships/article/aria-internship-spotlight/aria-spotlight-olivier-joncas
This report outlines my ARIA research project, titled “The Use of Simulation to Improve Anti-Oppressive Practice in Social Work,” conducted under the supervision of Professor Sarah Tarshis MSW, Ph.D. This research investigates how simulation-based learning can enhance anti-oppressive practices (AOP) in social work, more specifically in addressing race and racism. Simulation refers to a real-life simulated encounter where a social work student or practitioner engages with a trained actor playing a pre-design case scenario portraying a realistic client (Kourgiantakis et al., 2021).
Fri, 18 Oct 2024 14:42:23 +0000 Olivier Joncas 4526 at /arts-internships ARIA Spotlight: Laurence Jette /arts-internships/article/aria-internship-spotlight/aria-spotlight-laurence-jette
This summer, I had the great opportunity to receive an ARIA award, which gave me the chance to learn more about the research process in psychology. During my internship, I worked on a research project exploring Affective Social Competence (ASC) under the supervision of Dr. Melanie Dirks. This project explored how empathic accuracy—an individual’s ability to accurately infer others’ emotions—as well as expressive accuracy—an individual’s ability to accurately display emotions in accordance with their subjective feelings—contribute to competent communication of emotions between friends.
Fri, 18 Oct 2024 14:40:06 +0000 Laurence Jette 4525 at /arts-internships Internship Spotlight: Angela Zhai - Festival Acces Asie /arts-internships/article/arts-internship-spotlight/internship-spotlight-angela-zhai-festival-acces-asie
My name is Angela Zhai, and I am entering my second year at 91˿Ƶ this fall. My interest in anthropology and the human behaviour has always been there. It all started when my parents made me watch Bones, a show about a forensic anthropologist who uncovered crimes. From that moment, the intelligence of the main character captivated me. Then, over time, my interest in health care grew. I became interested in how health care functioned- not the scientific aspect, but the humane and its advances.
Wed, 16 Oct 2024 17:16:55 +0000 Catalina Alfaro Ladino 4496 at /arts-internships Internship Spotlight: Sarah Ella Shijia Feng – Equitas /arts-internships/article/arts-internship-spotlight/internship-spotlight-sarah-ella-shijia-feng-equitas
In April, I completed my second year at 91˿Ƶ, where I studied Honours International Development Studies with a minor in Philosophy.
