Extreme Research: Winter Edition
91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ experts face up to the cold!
What do robots, electric snowmobiles and seasonal affective disorder have in common? They are all topics being featured at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ's Extreme Research: Winter Edition event on February 15. This event will showcase 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ's "cool" research about predicting, understanding and planning for winter weather and northern conditions.
Researchers will present their recent discoveries and innovations in the following areas:
- Extreme weather
- The winter wallop on our roads and bridges
- The Canadian Arctic and global warming
- Designing machines for extreme environments — including robots for de-icing planes … and 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ's electric snowmobile!
- The special considerations for diet and nutrition in northern climates
- Seasonal affective disorder: when will the sun shine again?
Join us on the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ main campus to hear about more these topics.
When: Tuesday, February 15, 2005, 10:30 am
Where: Rendez-vous on the main campus in front of the Macdonald-Harrington Building, 815 Sherbrooke St. W., where we will launch the event. The venue for the presentations will depend — on the weather — but you can be assured it will be extremely interesting! Hot chocolate will be served.
