Muis, Robinson, and Lobczowski Recognized as Top-Producing Women in Educational Psychology Research

Three scholars from the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology were represented the recently published lists of Top-Producing Women in Educational Psychology Journals from 2017 to 2021 (Griffin et al., 2023, Educational Psychology Review). Krista R. Muis, Professor, Kristy A. Robinson, Assistant Professor, and Nikki G. Lobczowski, Assistant Professor, each received recognition for their publication records in flagship educational psychology journals.

Education Alumni Philip Cutler in the Media

Teacher turned mission-driven entrepreneur, Philip Cutler (B.Ed.'13), was featured in interview with two media outlets this past week. As CEO of Paper, Philip used his transferable skills as a classroom teacher to establish an on-demand online tutoring service. Paper has supported 3,000,000 students throughout the United States and will be collaborating with 91˿Ƶ Education on research in the EdTech field.

Education Alum Gerard Lewis Receives Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence

Gerard Lewis, a graduate of 91˿Ƶ's Concurrent B.Ed. and B.Sc. Mathematics (Class of 2004) was recently awarded Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence for igniting the love of learning. The award recognizes Gerard's exemplary teaching practices and his dedication to supporting teachers. Part of the Toronto Catholica District School Board, Gerard is the Mathematics Facilitator, Kindergarten to Grade eight.

Dr. Marie-Claude Geoffroy's lab is looking for participants for the Walking for Wellbeing Research Project.

Participation entails three 45-minute walks per week (in downtown Montreal) for a total of 4 weeks, with weekly online questionnaires. Participants must be: currently registered as 91˿Ƶ students; aged 18-25; fluent in English; and owning a working smartphone with a data usage plan.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former 91˿Ƶ Kinesiology and Physical Education Department Chair, Douglas Riley. Native from St. John, New Brunswick, he passed away on June 8, 2022 at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax at 90 years old.
