Celebrating Unity and Inclusion: A Lunchtime Gathering for Black, Disabled, and Queer ERGs

On a perfect September afternoon, members of our Black, Disabled, and Queer Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) came together for a special lunch event, bringing a sense of community and camaraderie to the space next to the Otto Maass building. Held on September 10, this gathering was a wonderful opportunity to connect, share experiences, and build stronger bonds across the ERGs.

treated us to an amazing catered meal, which added to the delight of the event. Attendees enjoyed a variety of delicious food while soaking up the sun and engaging in great conversation. The weather couldn’t have been better, providing the ideal setting for people to relax, enjoy, and simply take a breather from the usual hustle and bustle.

This event was not just about sharing a meal, but also about fostering a sense of unity across the ERGs. It was an afternoon filled with warmth, laughter, and connection—a true testament to the value of bringing our ERGs together. It’s moments like these that remind us of the importance of creating inclusive spaces where everyone can feel welcomed and appreciated.

We look forward to organizing more events in the future that continue to strengthen the bonds between our ERG communities. It’s our hope that these gatherings will become a regular addition to the academic year’s events, allowing us to celebrate our communities and support each other in meaningful ways. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible, and here’s to many more!
