Supreme Court on assisted suicide: 6-month extension?
Published: 8 January 2016
In December 2015, the federal government has asked the Supreme Court for a six-month extension to draft new laws on doctor-assisted dying. The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on this request starting January 11, 2016.
Robert Leckey, Faculty of Law, 91˿Ƶ
“There may be pressing reasons for doing so, but extending the deadline as the government has requested is in essence a request to keep violating rights, denying for longer still constitutional justice to a group of vulnerable people who thought they had won in court.”
