EPIB 662 Health in Developing Countries (3 credits)

Overview

Epidemiology & Biostatistics : This course will provide an introduction to health issues in developing countries, including major health problems, health determinants and strategies to improve health status. Due emphasis will be given to the primary health care strategy and to the impact of other sectors of development on health. Examples of the work of communities, ministries, non-government organizations and international agencies will be presented and discussed with particular references to issues of burden of disease, effectiveness and efficiency, feasibility, priority setting, sustainability and management.
