Overview

As a program that fosters the ideals of mentorship, the aim of the B.Ed Secondary English Language Arts Program is to prepare you for a career as an English Language Arts educator at the secondary school level.  

This integrated program combines professional studies in pedagogy, curriculum, and educational foundations with hands-on student-teaching classroom experience. You will also take subject area courses in English Literature, Culture and Drama/Theatre. You will graduate with both the theoretical and practical experience necessary to thrive in your future career.

This undergraduate degree in Secondary Education with specialization in English Language Arts can lead you to a wide range of career options. Many graduates choose to work in occupations that focus on education, community programming, educational technology, curriculum development, and administration. Employment is available in many types of establishments.

Student experience

Students in this program are supported by course instructors, advisors, and administrators in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) as well as the Office of Internships and Student Affairs (ISA). In addition to being a part of a department that fosters a sense of community and mentorship, students also can benefit from the resources and events organized by the Education Undergraduate Student Society (EdUS).
