There are three programs of study available at the graduate level in our department: Master of Science (thesis); Master of Science, Applied (non-thesis) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). The main research areas of the departmental members are given under Areas of Research.
Candidates are required to have either a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or a B.Sc. degree equivalent to a 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Honours degree in an appropriate, related discipline from a university of recognized reputation. The candidate must present evidence of academic achievement: a standing equivalent to a grade point average of 3.2 out of 4.0 for the past four semesters of study. Some candidates may be required to complete undergraduate courses in animal science and/or in the basic sciences when their backgrounds are judged inadequate.
