Kirsten Anker promoted to Associate Professor
The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Kirsten Anker has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor.
First coming to 91˿Ƶ as a Boulton Fellow in 2004, Kirsten Anker joined the Faculty of Law in 2007 as assistant professor. She teaches in the areas of property and Aboriginal peoples and the law, and has research interests that include property, Aboriginal title, legal theory, anthropology, education, and alternative dispute resolution. Her most recent book, Declarations of Interdependence: A Legal Pluralist Approach to Indigenous Rights (Aldershot, 2014), deals with aboriginal law and rights.
In sharing the news, Dean Jutras underscored how Professor Anker’s significant pedagogical and scholarly contributions have led to a better understanding of aboriginal legal traditions: “We are immensely fortunate to have among us a colleague with such depth of expertise and insight as we prepare to respond to the calls to action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Her outlook will help us give our students the knowledge and means to build a genuine partnership with Aboriginal communities.”
Bravo, Kirsten!
