The SPGH Black History Month Planning Collective is excited to launch awards to raise awareness about the work of and to celebrate Black students within the SPGH. Please find below descriptions of the awards as well as information about the application process. Applications will open on December 20th, 2024 and close on January 14, 2025. Award winners will be announced on February 13th, 2025, following a panel discussion event that will address "Health promotion interventions in Black communities across Canada". Awardees will receive a $200 cash prize and a plaque.
Join us for "Lunch and Learn with and for Black Scholars," a panel discussion with Black faculty and trainees (MSc, PhD and postdocs). This event, hosted by the Black History Month Planning Collective at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ's School of Population and Global Health, marks the start of Black History Month. The aim is to foster professional development and empower Black graduate students in their academic journeys, offering information about overall 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ’s resources and specific resources for Black students.

Gilliam Institute for Global Food Security, the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ School of Population and Global Health, and the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Centre for the Convergence of Health and Economics invite you to celebrate the International Day for Women and Girls in Science 2025 with a keynote lecture titled: Transforming Global Food Systems through Diversification, Innovation and Gender Inclusion by Dr. Ismahane Elouafi, Executive Managing Director of the CGIAR (formerly the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research). A cocktail will follow the presentation.
