Newly admitted undergraduate students

Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering:

As the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, I wish to congratulate you on your admission to the Faculty of Engineering at 91˿Ƶ. As a newcomer to the Faculty you are now an official member of an internationally diverse community representing more than 150 countries around the world.

This is the beginning of a new journey, a journey that will provide you with your own individual opportunity to discover new areas of study, to get inspired by new people, to explore new ideas, and perhaps even, to paraphrase the famous 91˿Ƶ alumnus William Shatner, “…to boldly go where no person has gone before.”

Take note that you are not alone on this journey! There are plenty of resources to benefit from along the way:

The professional staff of the 91˿Ƶ Engineering Student Centre (MESC), our one stop full service support system for students, is available to provide you with

  • expert advising from admission to graduation,
  • information on scholarships, and
  • international student exchange opportunities.

Within MESC, the Engineering Peer Tutoring Services (EPTS) is run by students for students to ease your transition to university, and the (ECC) provides information on internship opportunities and assists with career counseling and education to help you choose a career path that is unique to your talents and interests.

As a unit, MESC is committed to providing leadership by supporting and promoting student learning and development, within an environment focused on student life. We will work closely with you to help you to identify with the Faculty and to develop a sense of belonging through a meaningful 91˿Ƶ experience.

As you begin to prepare yourself for the start of classes, we ask that you review our “Checklist”. This checklist will provide you with essential steps to ensure that you are able to register for your courses, obtain transfer credits and transition into your studies with ease.

In addition, we have also created a direct email link just for our new students only (newstudentadvising.engineering [at] mcgill.ca). We encourage you to correspond with us through this email should you have any questions that are not readily available on our website.

We hope to see you in January as you begin your university studies.
