Since 2008 the 91˿Ƶ Department of Family Medicine fundamentally changed the structure of our clinical curriculum to be more centred in Family Medicine. We developed our “horizontalized” curriculum that aligns with the Triple C curriculum mandated by the College of Family Physicians. This longitudinal distribution of clinical rotations maximizes the exposure to the Family Medicine Units.
Program Goals:
- To prepare our graduates to practice comprehensive Family Medicine in a variety of practice sites.
- To sensitize residents to the concept that health and illness exist within a social and political context.
- To foster a spirit of critical inquiry in our residents into all aspects of medical practice.
- To enable our graduates to meet the standards of certification of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the licensing requirements of the Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ).
- To provide residents with the tools for lifelong learning.
- To support residents in their role as teachers.
