2. Defi Canderel: In 1990, following the cancer diagnosis of his wife, Susan Wener, Mr. Jonathan Wener approached the Rosalind & Morris Goodman Cancer InstituteÌýto establish an efficient way to contribute to the expedient improvement of the management of cancer. His choice to create an event to provide funds for the research link of the chain proved to be a judicious and profitable investment. Since then, every May, thousands of runners from various companies and institutes join together and run the streets of Montreal to raise funds for cancer research. The proceeds of this event have, so far, enhanced the productivity of research results coming from the Centre and have had many far-reaching and significant impacts. In particular, Défi Canderel has made a significant contribution to the next generation of leading cancer researchers, many of whom have benefited from Canderel Awards that have enabled them to focus on their research and secure prestigious funding in subsequent years. Each year, many of the Centre's researchers, technicians, graduate trainees, post-doctoral fellows, and administrative staff participate in the Défi Canderel and lend a hand to the organizers. Specific details on how to participate and volunteer are communicated to the Centre's members as of February. Please visit The Défi Canderel website for more information on the event:

3. Public Lectures: As part of its mission to empower patients, caregivers and families dealing with cancer, the Rosalind & Morris Goodman Cancer Institute organizes an annual series of lectures at which leading experts discuss advances in cancer research.

The program presents summaries of the latest fundamental and clinical cancer research, demystifying and breaking down complex topics in the fields of cancer biology, novel treatments and best practices in patient care management. Examples of recent topics include Lung Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer, Cancer Cachexia and Renal Cancer.
