The Global Health Night 2013 was held at the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Faculty Club (3450 McTavish), on Thursday, November 7th, from 6 to 8:30pm. This annual event is held to highlight and foster the involvement of students and faculty at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ in global health-related activities.
The evening featured a guest lecture by Dr. Francesco Carli and included the announcement of the Global Health Programs Photography Competition winner, the Faculty of Medicine’s Chan Prize winner and the Travel Awards Fall 2013 winners.
During the wine and cheese reception, guests had the opportunity to browse student poster presentations and to vote for the best poster presentation of the night.ÌýStudents and student groups from all backgrounds and disciplines presentedÌý posters about their global health-related experiences, clinical rotations and projects!

Francesco Carli, MD, MPhil, FRCA, FRCPC
Professor of Anesthesia and Professor in the School of Nutrition, Montreal General Hospital,
Department of Anesthesia of 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ.
Dr.Francesco Carli completed his medical training and anesthesia training in Turin, Italy and London, England. He has worked as Clinical and Research Fellow in Paris and Montreal. He completed a Master in surgical metabolism at the University of London, England. He was staff anaesthesiologist and research scientist at Northwick Park Hospital and Medical Research Centre, Harrow, Middlesex and the Hammersmith Royal Postgraduate Medical School, London, England before coming to 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ as the Wesley Bourne Professor and Chairman of the department of Anesthesia (Chairmanship 1994-2004). He is the Chair of the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society International Education Foundation (CASIEF);Board Member of the Louise and Allan Edwards Foundation; President of the Peri Operative Program (POP). Dr Carli has served as volunteer physician/educator at the Medical College of Monrovia (Liberia), at Centre-Hopitalo Universitaire de Kigaly (Rwanda), and at the Medical School of East Jerusalem and West Bank. Dr Carli is the Canadian representative of the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS).
