Mission

The MSSI realizes its vision through creating multi-sectorial transdisciplinary research projects on sustainability systems topics. The MSSI is a community of researchers from very different disciplines that interact and co-design projects to address complex issues from a variety of perspectives. The outcome is a robust and vibrant community of dedicated sustainability researchers.聽

The MSSI achieves its mission through the following approaches:聽

Transdisciplinary community and capacity building聽

• Hosting and co-hosting events such as symposia, awards, talks, workshops, and trainings, internally and with strategic external partners

Funding seed projects聽

• Providing funding (< $100,000) for innovative inter- and transdisciplinary research projects to support novel ideas and approaches

Developing large-scale projects聽

• Identifying nexus sustainability issues that our research community is uniquely positioned to respond to聽

• Funding and co-creating these (> $500,000) research programs, serving as a project steward through internal and external partnership development聽

• Identifying opportunities and providing support for external funding, communications and other impact pathways聽
