In parallel to its different funding opportunities, NeuroSphere is fully aware that potential roadblocks or challenges to commercialization could sometimes be addressed by finding the right expertise. This is why, NeuroSphere is willing to help researchers address specific needs on their path to commercializing their neuro innovations by covering up to $40,000 of consulting or sub-contracting fees.
These fees could include/cover:
- Intellectual property strategy (including patentability assessment & freedom to operate)
- Business model/case assessments
- Health economic modeling
- Outsourcing preclinical/R&D work (in vitro, in vivo, analytical as long as it fits the budget) to contract research organizations
- Regulatory strategy

Eligibility and relevance review:
The NeuroSphere team will assess the eligibility of applications based on the following criteria:
- Applicant eligibility: The applicant must be a 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ researcher or trainee
- Alignment: The project must be within the field of neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, mental health or neuroinformatics and align with .
- A report of Invention (ROI) must have been filed with the Innovation and Partnerships Office at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ (I+P). The technology must also not yet be licensed or optioned.
- Application completeness: the application form must be completed

Review of the potential for impact:
The NeuroSphere team will review the expression of needs and how the requested consulting or sub-contracting work will help with the maturation and/or commercialization of the innovation. The following criteria will be considered:
- Commercial potential of the innovation
- Characterization/clarity of the market need
- Anticipated impact of the proposed work
The best applications will be selected for the second step.

Meeting with NeuroSphere:
Selected researchers will be invited to further present their need to a selection committee formed by the NeuroSphere Business Development team and one member from the HBHL Innovation Committee during a 30 min meeting. A short slide deck (5-6 slides) describing the following points will be requested:
- Project
- Problems aimed to be solved.
- Maturation stage
- Value for money
- Roadmap to commercialization

The successful applicant will be requested to provide NeuroSphere with a quote for the requested work and NeuroSphere will take care of the invoice.
