I am both a speech pathologist (MSc.) and a systems biologist (Ph.D.) by training. I direct the Voice and Upper Airway Research Laboratory at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ. Our research focuses on advancing personalized medicine in voice and upper airway disorders through the development of high-performance computing, wearable devices, point-of-care diagnostics, and regenerative biomaterials. In particular, we develop agent-based computational models to simulate complex cellular and molecular processes associated with laryngeal injury and repair. With the assistance of this computer software program, clinicians and engineers will be able to predict in advance, or along any points during the intervention how different treatments, including surgical, behavioral, biomaterials, can alter their safety and efficacy, and personalize the treatment to an individual profile and treatment progress.
