91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ honorary degrees are awarded to distinguished individuals in recognition of a lifetime of scholarly, scientific or artistic achievement, or for exceptional contribution to the public good through professional or philanthropic activity.
Any member of the public or the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ community may submit nominations. All nominations submitted are reviewed by the Honorary Degrees and Convocations Committee (HDCC) which in turn makes recommendations to Senate.
All information submitted regarding a nomination will be kept strictly confidential. The HDCC therefore acknowledges receipt of nominations, but does not normally respond to nominators about the status of their nomination.
Nominations are welcome at any time. However, in order to be considered by the HDCC at its next upcoming meeting, nomination packages should be received electronically no later than noon (12 p.m.) on Friday, February 7, 2025. To submit your nomination, please use the following form:

Kindly accompany your nomination with a covering letter addressed to the Chair of the Honorary Degrees and Convocations Committee (Mr. John McCall MacBain) stating the reasons for your nomination. The completed form (in Word format) and covering letter should be sent by email to thomas.daudlin [at] mcgill.ca (Thomas Daudlin, Governance Officer, Secretariat).
