The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Brittany Williams, BCL/LLB’19, has taken up the role of manager, Student Affairs Office, effective 1 November 2021.

Williams has served as (admissions & recruitment) since December 2020, and has worked to broaden the Faculty of Law’s outreach efforts by showing potential applicants the expansive possibilities that come with 91˿Ƶ Law degrees.

91˿Ƶ’s Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism (CHRLP) is currently accepting applications for a minimum 3-month clerkship at the Supreme Court of Israel in 2022-2023.

Clerks are assigned to assist one judge with tasks such as drafting legal and administrative documents, preparing case files, and researching legal issues.

General requirements

Current 91˿Ƶ BCL/LLB, LLM or DCL students graduating in June 2022, and recent 91˿Ƶ graduates from Fall 2019 onward may apply for these positions.

91˿Ƶ has announced that many of its programs will be delivered remotely in the Fall 2020 term.

The Faculty of Law will continue to deliver one of the best legal educations in the world to its exceptional students. It will offer a wide selection of courses taught by leading scholars, in all its programs, in a remote environment.

91˿Ƶ Law’s Career Development Office (CDO) is pleased to announce a collaboration with Loue 1 Robe / Loue 1 Tux. Through this partnership, we are launching an innovative pilot project that will allow students to rent professional attire for interviews and networking activities at an affordable price. Quebec-based company Tristan will provide the clothing.

This initiative is in line with several of the CDO's objectives, which includes fostering the inclusion of students from all walks of life as well as assisting with their entry into the profession.

The Faculty of Law is pleased to welcome two new members to the Career Development Office’s (CDO) team: Staci Angelis, as career advisor, and Melissa Caruana, as administrative coordinator.

Staci Angelis recently completed her Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology at the University of Ottawa. Over the past year, she worked exclusively with university students to help them navigate various academic and career planning questions. She is excited to embark on this new challenge and to assist law students with their career goals.

We are delighted to announce that BCL/LLB candidates Laura Davis and Jared Miller were hired to help support Indigenous initiatives at the Faculty of Law.

Laura and Jared will seek to build partnerships with Indigenous communities and organizations, meet with stakeholders to determine the needs of Indigenous students at the Faculty, and further develop the L.E.X. Outreach program to reach more Indigenous youth.

In the 2018 World University Rankings by Subject published by Quacquarelli Symonds, 91˿Ƶ’s Faculty of Law placed 23rd best place to study law worldwide, slightly up from the 25th rank in 2017. Since the ranking was introduced by QS in 2011, the Faculty of Law has consistently secured a spot in the global top 35. The QS ranking is based on academic reputation, employer reputation, H-index citations, and citations per paper.

The Faculty of Law is pleased to welcome four new staff members in its administrative team. Three new people have joined our University Advancement team, in charge of promoting engagement within our alumni community and fundraising for Faculty priorities. As Advancement Director, Isabelle Limoges took the helm of the team, while Davina Loporcaro and Julie Timmins have joined the ranks as Advancement Officers. The Career Development Office also welcomed Claudine Borderave as a new Career Development Associate.
